I've spent the recent couple of days searching through bottomless archives containing most remarkable styles, photography and fashion ads of the 50s and 60s. I even purchased a book called "Vintage Fashion" (still on the way, but I hope to get it around tomorrow, and I really can't wait to get it in my hands). Black & white, subtle contrasts, strong cat-eye make up and overally classy & somehow reserved look. Yes to that! This "vintage madness" might be a temporary caprice, but I wanna take a chance and have a couple of images done this way.

I've watched so many vintage movies recently (mostly Hitchcock's movies like astounding "Vertigo" or "I confess" and some Hammer films ) and I really felt I wanted to try this sort of pics at least once. I haven't updated the blog for a little while, which apparently has some good sides. Instead of one or two books, one can upload a whole bunch pretending " hey, that's what I have published each week"- which I wish was true :) What makes me most glad is the fact that the images land on publications from all over the world, from Brazil to Croatia, Australia to Spain and Germany ( with a little stop in UK). A big "thank you" will always go to my lovely models and their subtle creations... I have recently joined ArtworkTOWER , which is an e-service, offering licensing rights for use of images for cd album covers/merchandise/vinyls, etc - to cut a long story short, bands & labels can purchase licensing rights to use images for music releases of all sorts, all on a supereasy basis of a 'buy now" option.. Some of my more illustrative images are already available via stock agencies, but this is the first time I'm totally excited about the whole idea- I've always been a huge fan of music , and have finally found a way to offer my more atmospheric & darker images for licensing.

Sometimes I just like to search through older images from forgotten photoshoots. The fact is that everytime I edit images from one meeting, I prepare a good bunch of images which I would like to get through, and then I edit just a couple and forget of the rest. It is a nice surprise to dig out something special. Feelings towards certain photoshoot like to change in time, so does the objective view on the quality of the frames. I was quite lucky to find the image below earlier today. The model is Anna. More to come soon.

It is a rare case that I can honestly say I've been waiting for a book or album release with such an excitement. Now, when Cecile Corbel's newest album called " Songbook vol 3; Renaissance" is about to be officially released (25th of May, but you can already preorder the CD via Cecile's official site), I'd love to take the chance to spread the word of it. Cecile, who's not only a talented musician, but a lovely person, made me an honour of standing in front of my camera during my last year's trip to France. Today I had a small photoshoot with Joanna. It was rather spontaneous, so a day before I just grabbed two gowns from one of the boxes. Fortunately they turned out to fit perfectly, the weather was lovely, the wind worked for us as well ( some windy shots will appear under this post later onn...). A victorian reader, an abandoned lady, a girl strolling under a blue umbrella, and a lonely girl standing on the edge of a cliff...etc, etc. We took a lot of images, and I hope to upload quite a good bunch of them in time. Just to mention that Joasia is a skilled dancer, so we even managed to take images of her in the act of dancing ascent ;)

Some of these were made by me, the other ones were purchased in vintage/second hand shops, or ebay/allegro, and reconstructed. I don't think I have ever spent more than 50$ for an outfit, but I love digging and finding little 'jewels', or designing them from the very beginning.More to go around January.

...is the view to Nonsuch Park. Well,not really,but I live quite close to it, staying here in Sutton (UK ). I haven't posted anything in a while but as I feel it's quite high time to start to think about coming back to regular photography, I though maybe it's a good way to start it all again this way. I'll try to post a couple of recent publications and some re-discovered works, as well as some thoughts on my trip to England. A lot of plans have already been made and some hopes have already been sown.

"Frightnight" is one of my all-time-fav movies and I've been actually thinking of taking some photographs more or less inspired by this film & series. Well, I still haven't done it but one of the images from a shoot with Caradelneil made me think of this theme and I couldn't help but name the image "Frightnight". There seems to be a real vampiric "revival" and I don't really mean this poor "Twilight" saga ( I've seen it and I'd rather forget...). So, I keep searching through my own movie archives and have already re-watched two parts of "Frightnight", "Vamp" with fabulous Grace Jones, "Vampire's Kiss", "The Hunger" & "Near Dark" and I can't wait to see "The Lost Boys" as soon as I get it on a dvd. yes, it's just the 80's keep trendy and for me it's all about all these creepy movie stories. Besides there's nothing more sensual than a bite in the neck, accompanied by the sounds of any hit by Classix Nouveaux, heh...

These images come from 2009, my lovely model was Joanna, a talented dancer and a cheerful person- sometimes it appears so striking when one comes to conclusion that these somewhat disturbing , otherworldly features stand out in opposition to someone's energetic personality. But I love it, even more as I realize that some stories get another meaning, and this is exciting...I'm packing my things and thinking of my trip to UK. In a little while I'll start a little search for souls that would like to cooperate with me and pose. Thank you for all your recent comments, emails and other messages. There are so many that I finally realized how long I've already been "offline" and find it difficult to respond personally- but I've read all your notes and I appreciate them really much, thank you.
As for my recent post- some of the prints are still available, while I've sold a couple of other ones (not necessarily mentioned here) . So, to make things clear- there's now an option of purchasing prints that can be found in my online portfolio, not only here. However, as I am planning a longer leave abroad (around the end of March), please be aware of the fact that after the 2nd week of March I won't be able to offer any prints, organize shipping etc., so the so called "sale" won't last long. I only sell signed and limited prints so the number of copies of each image is also very limited... And I...am already looking forward to seeing some Pre-Raphaelite paintings "live", meeting some of my best friends, enjoying the charm of Victorian architecture, and spending some time for myself in a different climate... what comes out of this- time will show. I think I am very curious and a bit afraid. Oh well. Be well.

Lost and found in my wardrobe. The lovely satin dress was bought some time ago. In several cultures this colour is believed to keep the bad spirits away. It's also associated with stability and conservatism, the regal & cool blue, so much "Victorian" in spirit (and of course, there's still black, rather impossible to get dethroned :) )

The view from here is a view to coming winter, cold days and even colder nights, some new musical releases ( e.g. adorable new seasonal album released by Tori Amos ,it's called "Midwinter Graces" ), and flu... Although I've recently suffered from a terminal lack of free time, I got a chance or two to have myself a little second-hand hunt for fabrics and gadgets that could be used in my images. And I was lucky to find these...

the first image shows something that I would see as a very free variation on Italian baroque gowns :) On a shameless price of a double McChicken. I just added all this white stuff, the beautiful blue tafeta pattern is left the way I got it. In the recent post you could see a model wearing this lovely gown.

The second photo shows a set combined of two Indian dresses put together with an old vintage blouse and an amber heart necklace. A sort of inspiration by an everyday Victorian outfit of a lady who's just came back from some exotic vacation... from Ceylon perhaps :) I don't have time to sew costumes from the very beginning now, however it's great to have such a search from time to time, it works no worse. These two costumes, however, are to be used no earlier than in Spring, and I'm desperately looking for some winter gowns and velvet robes. And I am also looking for interesting books on the history of XVIII & XIXth century fashion, any suggestions of the titles would be fine.

I have some sorrows for sale, anyone interested? ;) Just joking... My "Sorrows of the Moon" work was inspired by this fabulous poem written by Charles Baudelaire. Just found "her" today while I was rearranging my print archives.
